Representatives of International Organizations Visited Glass Companies in Pojizeri

Thirty representatives of organizations from nine countries came together for a week 25–29 October 2016 to participate in an international project in Malá Skála SEE–Sample EU Entrepreneurship hosted and organized by the International Educational Center GEMS with the support of the EU program Erasmus+. The group visited glass-blowing companies in Zelezny Brod, Turnov and Semily. The aim of the project was to introduce the participants to the examples of good practices in the field of small and medium-scale enterprises in the areas with lack of employment opportunities. Coordinators of international organizations from Great Britain, Georgia, Turkey, Armenia, Spain, Israel, Portugal and Ukraine visited a number of enterprises and companies of the traditional glass industry, e.g. AAC Bizuterie and DTGLASS in Zelezny Brod, Wranovsky Crystal in Turnov and social enterprise Glass Lucie in Semily. In enterprises, the international delegates attended professional workshops with companies’ representatives and were discussing the issues related to business set-up and creation of new employment opportunities. The companies AAC Bizuterie and Wranovsky Crystal prepared for the international guests series of glass-blowing demonstrations and even a possibility to try some of the glass techniques on their own. The social enterprise Zrnko naděje (Grain of Hope) presented to the international representatives the community housing concept for citizens of Semily with health disabilities. „We have greatly appreciated the opportunity to personally visit local businesses and social enterprises. In this region we can clearly see the importance of family businesses that belong to the local tradition and that will be passed on to future generations,“ said a member of the Committee of Armenian organizations FYCA (Federation of Youth Organizations in Armenia), Mrs. Astghik Avetisyan." In this region there are many similarities with our country. Therefore we would like to use the local expertise to develop business ventures in Armenia based on the local tradition," Avetisyan ended.
